Small Practices in Singapore abound. Statistics compiled by the Law Society shows that the number of small practices continues to increase every year despite the absolute decrease in the number of lawyers holding practicing certificates.

Small Practice owners everywhere tell us their primary reason for starting their own practice is to “be their own masters”. In addition to a deeper sense of ownership and purpose, they also testify how running their own practice is more rewarding and more fun!

After 5 years cutting your teeth in a medium or large law firm, many lawyers experience the call to hang out their shingle, to start out on their own or join their friends in a venture, which will enable them to do things their way. Unfortunately, while you may have  honed your lawyering skills in a large law firm, practising in a large law firm does not equip you to set up your own practice or running your own practice.
